2006-09-03 04:25:12 - Headache for the morrow

So I decided to poke around with NXPress before bed to get back in the groove before tomorrow. Looks like I goofed something earlier.

I had discovered with my copy of Crime and Punishment, sized to a classic mp1x0 screen, that the line spacing was roughly 1.5. Assuming this to be standard was a mistake. Looking at the books I have in mp2x00 format, the line spacing is the same pixel height between the tops and bottoms of letters, not a multiple of the line size. It just so happens that the font size of my Crime and Punishment book is just about right so that 1.5 line spacing matches the newton book spacing. Take the font size up or down and it no longer matches.

The good news is that this fixed gap spacing should be simpler to implement than the 1.5x font size spacing was. I'll have to do some more example comparisons to make sure this is really how newton books work, but I think I've got it right finally.

I hope so - WYSYWIG accross these two totally different rendering engines is being a real Pain in my arse.
